About Us
Zimtrek was founded in 2020 and is currently headquartered in Harare, Zimbabwe. We began by curating domestic journeys that showcased Zimbabwe's iconic destinations, from Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park to Mana Pools, Great Zimbabwe, the Eastern Highlands, and Lake Kariba.
As international travel resumed post Covid-19, we expanded across Southern and East Africa, creating tailor-made safaris and adventure experiences in Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Kenya.
Through strong partnerships with trusted lodges, camps, hotels, transfer providers, activity operators, and charter companies, we deliver seamless, personalised journeys. Today, customer experience, collaboration, and authentic African travel remain at the heart of everything we do.
The Story Behind Zimtrek
The name Zimtrek was born from a simple belief — that the true spirit of Zimbabwe is best discovered slowly, one step at a time.
Long before safari vehicles became the norm, the African wilderness was experienced on foot; listening to the distant call of a fish eagle, tracing fresh elephant tracks in the dust, and feeling the rhythm of the savannah beneath your boots. Zimtrek was created to bring travelers back to that authentic connection with the wild.
Guided by Zimbabwe’s highly trained professional guides, our journeys invite guests to trek through some of Africa’s most breathtaking landscapes, experiencing wildlife up close in a way that awakens every sense. Beyond the wilderness, we believe the soul of travel also lives in the people.

Zimtrek Travel is led by its founder and Managing Consultant, Peter Bwawa, a travel and hospitality professional with over a decade of industry experience.
Peter’s career has been shaped by a passion for service excellence, an eye for detail, and a deep understanding of what discerning travellers truly value.
Known for his calm, consultative approach, Peter is closely involved in the design of every journey, ensuring each itinerary reflects both the client’s aspirations and the realities on the ground. His commitment to quality, transparency, and value for money underpins Zimtrek’s operating philosophy and has earned the trust of travellers and partners alike.
Under his leadership, Zimtrek Travel continues to grow as a boutique African travel specialist—small enough to care deeply, yet experienced enough to deliver with confidence.
